Cost per mille (CPM, or cost per thousand) is a marketing term used to specify a price of a thousand ad impressions on a web page.
CPM is the most common pricing method in online advertisement. The impressions, also known as ad views, are the metric the method relies on. The metric counts the number of views for a particular ad. While the metric measures how many times an ad was displayed on a web page, it does not measure whether the ad was clicked on.
With the CPM method, an advertiser pays a publisher a set amount of money for every thousand impressions of their ad on the publisher’s website.
