Display advertising is a form of digital advertising that combines text, visual elements, and clickability. Therefore, an Internet user sees some image with text and can click on it. After that, they will be redirected to the advertiser’s website where they can learn more about the brand, its products, or services.
Display advertising comes in many forms. The most popular example is banner ads that can be seen on almost every website. It can also be a video or even a small game. Unlike native ads, it is clear that the creative serves commercial purposes.
There are 4 types of display advertising:
- Remarketing (ads follow the user as they surf different pages)
- Personalized (people of certain demographics and behavior will see the ad)
- Contextually targeted (there is some topic and everyone who likes the topic will see the ad)
- Site-placed (visitors of a certain website will see the ad)
However, display advertising has become too much for the users and they started to use ad blockers to avoid all kinds of popups, banners, commercial videos, etc.
