Google bombing is an SEO technique to make a web page rank first on the SERP for a negative or controversial phrase. It is a black-hat SEO practice that exploits the weakness in search engine ranking algorithms.
Google bomb involves the artificial inflation of the number of web pages linking to another page and using a particular word or phrase as anchor text. The search engine algorithm ranks a page high for a search phrase if many other pages link to it with the same or similar anchor text. This is a dirty SEO method and is a very amateurish SEO technique as well.
The most famous example of the Google bombing involved former US President George Bush in 2004. After his biography was published on the White House official website, thousands of websites linked it with the anchor text “miserable failure.” The page ranked for this text and became associated with any such request.
