Google Sandbox is believed to be a Google search engine filter that prevents new websites from appearing in search results. It was never confirmed that this filter exists though.
The theory about the filter has such strong trust because new websites actually do not appear on SERPs at first. If you type in the domain name, you will resurface but keyword search will not include your website in the ranking.
Google crawlers visit new websites very soon after their creation but they seem to wait some time to see how the website is being filled with content and what quality this content is. Basically, the search engine is testing the website before letting it on its pages with results.
The new website may also not rank because:
- they are low on content
- they do not have enough backlinks
- there is no enough traffic for Google to decide whether users like the website
However, many SEOs do not believe in Google Sandbox because many relatively new websites were winning over the top of search results with their high-quality content.
