Hosting providers are major IT companies hosting and powering the millions of sites available on the internet. Hosting providers are responsible for building and delivering a complete infrastructure to deploy websites and maintain their functionality. They host servers that can serve as web servers for numerous websites. Each host may have a website or more, depending on their delivery mode. Hosting service providers deliver a cost-effective and more straightforward way to host websites.
There are two main types of hosting services that hosting service providers offer:
Shared Hosting
Shared hosting is when the hosting provider hosts multiple websites on the same server. It’s similar to using the public bus system to share the same space and resources with other people. A server may host hundreds or thousands of websites in shared hosting. It has its advantages, one of which is that it’s inexpensive, but it also has its disadvantages.
Dedicated Hosting
Dedicated hosting is when the hosting provider hosts a website on one server. The server is specifically dedicated to the website. This takes away competition for resources which is a feature of shared hosting and leads to better website performance.
