Opt-In is a term that refers to an individual who gives a company permission to use data that the company has collected in or about him, for a specific reason, such as to promote a company’s product or services. It can also be something very simple, like user consent, offering information, or choosing to participate in a survey. Sometimes users also need to decide to allow the site to place cookies in their browsers.
Opt-in forms can be presented to customers and visitors in a variety of ways: pop-up forms on the homepage or product pages, dedicated landing pages, and built-in widgets across an eCommerce website.
Such a thing is necessary, given the laws. All companies and websites need to provide users with the ability to agree or opt-out of a survey or email communication. Businesses must genuinely represent their identity and intentions, with all deception in the subject lines or originating email addresses explicitly forbidden. Most importantly, they must provide a way for recipients to opt-out of receiving emails at all times.
