Pageview, also known as page view hit, page tracking hit, is a metric that refers to the page’s loading (or reloading) request in a browser. In other words, it defines the total number of pages viewed during a specific period of time.
For Google, this metric can be found in Google Analytics – Behaviour tab. This metric is critical for estimating the overall site’s (or page’s) performance. Additionally, the pageview comparison can also provide web developers with important insights about the traffic, its quality and which pages are your audience interested in.
To increase the number of pageviews, you should focus on the site’s traffic increasing, which basically means working for optimization:
- Social Traffic – building social media marketing strategies of increasing the site’s popularity and authority, driving more new audiences to it.
- Paid Traffic – buying the traffic using different sources, including social media, search engine, native ads, media buys, affiliates, etc.
- Organic Traffic – creating the SEO strategy that is mainly focused on improving the site’s ranking positions on SERP by working with its content quality, technical features and keyword targeting to generate more leads to the site via organic search.
Pageviews allow you to see the real page’s performance and get some more information about the audience interaction with it, which in fact gives a good starting point of understanding the ways you can develop your site.
